The road to rescue is long...

Fury came to KDR as an owner surrender anemic, missing fur, crusted over ears with sores on his paws, and very malnourished at only 7 pounds for a 9-10 month old dachshund. We rushed to get him the care he desperately needed. Vets were able to determine he suffers from an autoimmune disorder and anemia, resulting in the many complications facing him. Luckily his emergency treatments, tests, blood transfusions, and more, helped him turn a corner to a road to recovery.

…but it’s well worth

the journey.

Thanks to our wonderful donors we were able to fund his recovery. After three months in a home with other dogs, lots of love, food, and much needed medical attention, Fury regained his strength. He came into his own, enjoying what was left of his puppy phase - running with other dogs, playing with toys, snuggling in blankets and being spunky and rambunctious! He has since been placed in a home and is thriving, enjoying the rest of his days while his family manages his continued care needs.

rescue isn’t always pretty.

The dogs we take in at KDR, sometimes have extensive medical needs, like Harlow - found wandering on the road in very poor condition. A large mammary mass hanging from her body, some nails so long, they grew into her pads and punctured them. Skin and ears in horrible condition, infected and crusted over.

but nevertheless, we persevere.

Harlow had her mass removed, was spayed, received meds for her infections, skin issues, whipworm, and after additional tests and medical care, she finally was on the road to recovery, and now has her happy ending in her forever home.

CUDDLY helps us spotlight cases at KDR that require emergency funding and supplies. Dogs facing expensive surgeries, therapies, life threatening injuries, and disabilities (blind, deaf, IVDD) are just some of the cases you will find here. On CUDDLY you can donate funds or items on the dogs wishlist - like food, ear cleaners, bandages and ointments, all delivered directly to the foster caring for that animal.
