"When I first starting rescuing, it was hard to give the dogs to another family. Even families where references were checked and approved, I dreaded losing the dog to them. Some dogs were very dear to me, others I was happy they found a home. After many years working in rescue, I discovered a profound realization. I had to "let the dogs go who found homes" so I could help others. I also realized the dogs I adopted to other folks were genuinely loved and wanted and treasured members of their family. I simply could not give them that much love and devotion--and they deserved it. So I kept a few in my home and those dogs have been my treasure. They are understanding and patient and somehow realize from my smell that I care for many others like them in our Doxie Home. They give up some of their time with me so I can help others. They are all a blessing..... " (Kathy McIntosh)
